Wildlife crime is a common occurrence in South Africa. Nights of the full moon are called “Poacher’s Moon” in our industry. Our only chance of stopping poachers or getting to injured animals on time is by air. We can also cover a much larger area by air. Airplanes and helicopters are too expensive.
A bat hawk is a small cost-efficient alternative to a plane or helicopter would go a long way to allowing us to do something proactive against poaching. Not only for us but for the whole Bela Bela area.
